i guess my attraction to predator related stuff goes way back to when i first saw predator at the theatre.
i like the alien franchise also, and now that the two monsters have become amalgamated by avp,and the upcoming avp2,........ i guess my collections only going to get larger over time.....lol !! ive always liked japan, and took a trip over there a while back,so natrually i love the "samurai" aspect of predator fan bits & peices also. im looking forward to seeing the new suits in avp2,......and am planning on "trooping" at the theatre for screenings of the film. i own 2 fullsized predator suits. a celtic avp suit, and a samurai predator suit. (a.ka. "big-red" offa batman:dead end) i own a small collection of full-sized bio helmets, and am currently seeking to expand that collection.most of my collection of alien/predator related comic books were destroyed when my house flooded last week,so im working on rebuilding the comic book collection now. palisades toys made a great range of aliens/predator polystone collectibles, and ive got most of them. anyways,im always looking for more bits to add........lol!!! the predators are a great looking alien in my opinion,strong,silent,invincible....great smile..........lol!! and i love the scenes in avp that depict the predators "god" status. (ships hover atop pyramids in the background)....WICK-ED !!! followed by a great lookiing shot of predator warriors atop a pyramid, twirling weapons and shooting plasmacasters as they face "the great serpents"...........in short, the yautja warriors are the biz for me,........ the predators also have a "code" for hunting,so they havent been reduced (yet) to stupid, killer type aliens......... ie:no preds have ever cracked a one-liner before the kill, and with luck, that'll never happen...........lol !! i scored a few cool avp/aliens autographs offa ebay last week...............woot !!!! (got em framed, and on the wall in my dungeon...... B) |

I was talking to an american guy who makes preditor suits the other day (mike/dragnfrye4) sounds like a huge amount of effort goes into making one, Id love to try to make one myself, but at the moment I lack the experience and funds (and workspace and materials) If im ever in your neighbourhood Id love to take you up on the offer to see your collection, especially the full size suits

yup,i know mike (from the hunterslair)......hes a cool dude, talented painter, and has a coupla kick arse suits.
he's also a huge bde(batman:dead end) fan,so we instantly clicked once i made myself known on the lair. he has a great mask (i think its a db mask, but cant be sure, and i believe his suit is a db suit also.) as with the sw costuming community, the pred suit makers prefer to be un-named on forums like these.............. but yeah,i know mike. i frequent the hunterslair, and also the hive. if you're in the neighbourhood tim, you're more than welcome. pm me when/if you're keen. the entire reason ive gotten into making & painting up resinkits,is because a while ago,i was in intimidated by the skill i saw on the lair, but after chatting with those guys, and realising tha thtey are regular flesh & blood beings (ie:not gods......lol) i wanted to step up to the challenge................and so begins my journey. my hope is to be good painter someday. |

Very nice:) I have only ever sculpted people in the past and painted them, but I do know what control and skill you need to paint :)
Isn't dishwashing liquid about the most useful cleaner ever? I use it to strip mohair so I can dye it for doll wigs. The best mohair seems to be unwashed (it smells *very* goaty...) and the best way to clean it is to comb it and wash it in a mixture of water, dishwashing liquid and a little meths. Pretty much the combo you use to wash windows;) But yes, very cool :) |

.........its just occured to me thats what it looks like............lol !!! i have a few resin kits enroute from overseas currently. one of the kits (a masked pred fighting an alien warrior) is sure to be my fave of all time..............i tremble with anticipation. ive fallen victim to "garage kit ate my wallet" syndrome.........he,he,he.........but it feels so damn right............. guess i'll see you both in a few weeks yes ? later, lance.
