Doing an Imperial officer - Cool! Always neat to have fellow women in the 501st :) (Hasbro will be releasing a female imperial officer action figure, finally we get a figure!)

Yeah, saw that figure... but they all pale in comparison to the Vader -- I hope someone does that as a costume (you'd have to be a buff mofo for that, though).

Nice:)
So are there any male officers in Outpost 42? Because as mentioned in my decisons thread an officer uniform was an option for me too;) Though being relatively tall I'd have to think carefully about that... There is also a thread on theforce.net's costuming boards for an Ep III officer uniform. Nice new details on them. http://officers.conforums.com/index.cgi?bo...#=1171287807 The figure. Very cool. Nice to see the trousers don't "make you look like you have a large rabbit in each pocket." |

Jodhpurs :) (named after a city in India :P )
I didn't think a few of the officers looked like they were wearing jodhpurs, so that's fine with me if they're optional! :D |

No one reads Pratchett novels then? Admittedly it wasn't all in caps which would have been a clue as to who I was qoting... ;)
What uniform are you looking at? It's funny how the "olive" grey uniforms look more green on screen than in real life. Mind you it was the same with the cloaks in Lord of the Rings really. |

Yeah, the jodhpurs look good, but I would rather see gals wearing tight pants so I can check out their gadunkadunk. You know how it is... there's no more Cloning, so gotta make 'em the old fashioned way. :o And I'm not talking 'bout Matt's future wife. Just talking in general. |

Its been suggested by a member of The Dark Alliance (a sith/dark jedi costuming group that I"m part of) that I could do an admiral daala costume as I have red hair. It might be a possibility in the future.

Heh, yeah Daala has been on my possiblilty list for ages, not least of all because the New Essentials artwork of her has the same hair as me (that pale copper colour and rather long) and the same Face of Doom which you all have been very lucky to have not been inflicted with. ;)
I've seen people do a regular uniform as her but I have seen one person do the costume as per the New Essentials artwork. photos.yahoo.com/leiayt1300 I think was her but I Yahoo photos is screwy atm and I can't be sure anyway. I feel like I'm stalking her looking for where the images are so I'll just leave it for now. |

I'm starting a new Thread for the Imp Officer costume.
I'm also grabbing posts from another thread to start this one, and to keep the other thread on topic. |

The IOC forums are the best place to go - it is relatively new, set up to take over the old yahoo group, but it has some great threads of information, and you don't have to be a current 501st member to join. There's a few women who have posted pics of their officer costumes - which I find helpful in determining how to make a guy's costume look right on female curves :)
TK VanB (Kathy) is great help if you want to know anything about officer costumes - when I e-mailed her, I got hat patterns and about 10 pages of costume notes! She's great. About jodhpurs I've only ever seen one woman wear them with her officer costume - to me, it just looks weird on women. Height isn't really an issue - I've seen proper-Vader height guys do the costume, nothing wrong with it - it's far more adaptable to body types than armour. I'm far too short to ever consider armour, but I think I look fine as an officer - though I really want to redo my costume to fit better - I've lost 17kg since I got it (wedding stress...), so I want a better fit for C4 (I'm up to my third version of my jedi, about time I updated something else..). And it would be cool to get more Daala's Death Squad members in NZ :) |

Yep I've been thinking about joining the forum, I have a conforums id already but I can't remember my password, that is even if it would work on another board- I think it should.
So anyone know what kind of uniform they are looking at doing? |

QUOTE(mdb @ Feb 17 2007, 12:50 PM) Well I'll just be sticking with my original - black Imperial officer costume. Got a few other costumes I'm hoping to do before C4 - best for me to stick with something simple. And I like the look. It'd be neat to see some other colours/characters though :) I'll probably be using my original tunic as a patten, just adjusting it smaller - then doing it with my new fabric (I found my old fabric too stiff, felt a bit 'boxy'), and making matching pants this time and redoing the hat - the scariest part for me... I already have the belt, hat greeblie, rank bar, code cylinders and boots, so that's easy. |

I know why armour is so popular (I wish I could fit it!), but it's hard to beat the Imperial Officer for an easier to wear 501st costume. It's good not to have to deal with heat/mobility/comfort issues (I'm interested to see what it's like to wear a helmet when I complete my Boushh costume..). Certainly would make a good back-up costume for long days at a convention :)
So has anyone got any progress pics to show yet? :) I'm afraid I'm not much past the planning stages.. |

I'd be doing Daala but its very much still at the possibility stage as I can't afford another costume at present and I don't know how thrilled Mum will be if I decide to do another one. Maybe when I get a job I might revisit it. Daala is my choice because my hair is red and she has red hair.
